How does Google Maps give directions for crossing oceans?

Search
: honolulu to los angeles; tokyo to beijing

Why: In Reader's Digest Off Base:
Playing around with my new iTouch, I decided to get directions to my son's base from my home in Maryland. So I typed in "Wahaiwa, Hawaii." I got turn-by-turn directions until I hit the coast. Then I was told, "Kayak across the Pacific Ocean entering Hawaii."
Answer: Hahah kayak, jet ski...

The More You Know: Lemme know if you find any other Easter Eggs in this category. I also tried (and failed with):
  • Jakarta to Mumbai
  • Athens to Santorini
  • Hamburg to Stockholm
  • Glasgow to Reykjavik
  • London to Reykjavik
  • Brisbane to New Zealand
  • Chile to Antarctica
  • Havana to Miami
  • Nassau to Miami
  • Corner Brook to Sept-Îles
