What is "the old Joanna"?

Search
: "the old Joanna"

Why: In Pat's favorite song "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" by Scissor Sisters:
But I don’t feel like dancin’
When the old Joanna plays
Answer: It's a piano! It's from Cockney rhyming slang:
  • stairs - "apples and pears"
  • look - "butcher's hook"
  • wife - "trouble and strife"
  • pianner / pianna - "old Joanna"
I don't know.

The More You Know: Scissor Sisters members are named Jake Shears, Babydaddy, Ana Matronic, and Del Marquis. Lol. This is "I Can't Decide," my favorite song by them:

  1. how much does pat like i don't feel like dancing?

does he go into bars with friends of like mind, put it on the jukebox, sit on different sides of the bar and dazzle fellow patrons with coordinated double clapping during the chorus?

  2. It is his ringtone and the startup noise on his computer. We opted not to go to a Scissor Sisters concert once in Boston, and he brought it up pretty much every day for the next 3.5 years. It was his audition song for American Idol.
