Why: I am watching the movie The Girl Can't Help It (1956), which I never knew existed. That is the theme song. I had only ever heard it in that Fergie single.
Answer: It was written by Bobby Troup and performed by Little Richard! In 1964 it was covered by The Animals, and in 2001 by Babes in Toyland.
