When did the first Whole Foods open?

Search
: "whole food store"

Why: Wondering if it's OK to call a natural/organic/whatever store like Trader Joe's a "whole food store."

Answer: 1980 in Austin, TX. The founders were 2 peeps that owned Safer Way Natural Foods and 2 guys that owned Clarksville Natural Grocery.

The More You Know: Now there are more than 270 stores in the US and UK, but I have never been inside a single one of them.
