Why: It is the name of an online poetry journal in Southern California. My thesis adviser has a piece in the current issue called "Object Parade: Little Black Dress."
Answer: It is a bunch of plants!
- Mainly drought-resistant shrubs.
- Native to California and the northern part of the Baja Peninsula.
- Often grows so densely that large animals and people can't walk through it.
- Species include black sage, yucca, and the lemonade berry (omg yum).
