Search: twenty-one guns song
Why: I just heard it. It sounded like Green Day.
Answer: "21 Guns" by Green Day, from their new album 21st Century Breakdown.
The chorus goes:
One, 21 gunsIt sounds like this:
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky,
You and I

The More You Know: Like their 2004 album American Idiot, 21st Century Breakdown is a rock opera. It is divided into 3 acts: "Heroes and Cons," "Charlatans and Saints," and "Horseshoes and Handgrenades." Also, I just remembered they played this song on SNL like 3 weeks ago.
This has to be a remake of a song by David Bowie called all the young dudes. It sounds just like it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I'd call it a remake... Green Day is notorious for plagiarizing.

Or a remake of ELO's "Telephone Line"//Carl
ReplyDeleteIt's not plagiarism. Yes, they utilize the same 4 notes for a key part of the melody - but there are only so many intervals that sound good.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to popular music.
I dont quite understand why it has to be twenty one lol.
ReplyDeleteEver heard of the 21 gun salute? When someone from the military dies they honor them with a 21 gun salute. They do it for presidents and other important people.
ReplyDelete1776 the year our nation was born..now add all those numbers..that gives u 21. Thats where the 21gun salute comes from..what they r referring to in the song.
ReplyDeleteMaria isn't that just coincidental? check this out:http://www.history.army.mil/faq/salute.htm
