Why: Butterflies expel it as waste from the pupal stage.

Answer: Oh my god, gross. I accidentally clicked the Wikipedia page and now I'm going gag until I throw up and/or die.

    Meconium is also the poop from babies in utero or right after birth.

    Yeah... I learned that when I opened Wikipedia and was assaulted by enormous pictures of diapers filled with greeny-black goo.
