Where did the word "nausea" come from?

Why: Kettle corn nauseates me.

Answer: From Latin, "seasickness," nausea; from Greek nautia, nausia, from nautēs "sailor" --> As in nautical: Latin nauticus, from Greek nautikos, from nautēs "sailor," from naus "ship"

The More You Know: The word nauseous means "causing illness," NOT "feeling sick." Don't say, "I feel nauseous." Say, "This is nauseating."

    hah, i learned that thanks to marke the grammar nazi. whenever i would say "im nauseous" he'd go "aw, no youre not. you dont make me feel sick!" and id proceed to glower at him, occasionally shooting back "sometimes its who!"
