Where did Crocs come from?
Search: crocs
Why: One time on an airport shuttle, I saw the Crocs kiosk man taking off his "real" shoes and putting on Crocs. Hilarious.
Answer: The plastic clog was originally acquired from a Canadian company (figures). George B. Boedecker founded the manufacturing company Crocs, Inc. to produce a spa shoe, and unveiled the first model, the Crocs Beach, at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show in 2002.

The More You Know: I got Birkenstocks at some weird trade show when I was about 7. The Birkenstock brand has roots in 1774 Germany, when a man named Johann Birkenstock was registered as a "subject and shoemaker" in church archives. His grandson Konrad developed the first contoured insole in 1897 and the first flexible arch support in 1902.
