What's the difference between chives and green onions?
Search: what is the difference between chives and scallions
Why: I need some sort of green onion, but McCormick only has dried chives. Surely I won't have to buy fresh onions every time...
Answer: Green onions (aka scallions) are bigger and grown for their small white bulb. The bulb has more flavor than the stems.
Chives are grown as an herb - the bulbs are inedible, but the leaves can be snipped, shaved, and freeze-dried. They don't have much flavor, but they add color.

The More You Know: You know the song "Green Onions" by Booker T. & the M.G.s, but you don't know that you know it. It was recorded for Stax in 1962.
