That's been a long running rumor, but I'm pretty sure its a beef/soy mix, which is what gives it that texture. There's definitely beef in them though

Filling Ingredients: Beef, Water, Textured Vegetable Protein (Soy Flour, Caramel Color), Soy Grits, Seasoning [Chili Powder (Chili Peppers, Spices, Salt, Garlic Powder)....and a bunch of other stuff I don't feel like listing
