Why: In Watchmen, Jon says that Mars is 227 million kilometers from the sun.

Answer: At its closest point in orbit (its "perihelion"), Mars is 207 million km from the sun. Between Earth and Mars, the distance fluctuates between about 56-400 million km (35-250 million miles).

  1. I think that Dr. Manhattan, a superhuman with more powers than any man or woman could possibly experience, and who has a chill-out condo on Mars, is more likely to know how far away things are than this David Darling character. Just sayin'.
